Founded in 1957 by Hans Henle in Ulm, Germany, Liqui Moly's name derives from its first product — an oil additive containing molybdenum disulfide (MoS₂), a solid lubricant that reduces friction and wear. The technology was inspired by WWII aircraft that could safely land even after losing all engine oil, thanks to MoS₂ coating on metal surfaces. Today Liqui Moly offers 4,000+ products in 150+ countries, reached €1 billion in sales (2024), and is repeatedly voted Germany's most popular motor oil brand (TOP BRAND, BEST BRAND). Acquired by Würth Group in 2018.
