Overview
TEIN FLEX Z is a ride-height adjustable suspension system built around twin-tube construction for street-oriented comfort. Ride height is adjusted by changing the case length, so damper stroke and spring preload remain effectively unchanged — you can lower the car without giving up ride quality. Damping force adjusts over 16 levels, with compression and rebound turned together through a needle-valve knob, so ride and handling can be tuned to suit personal preference. FLEX Z is designed to balance a lowered stance, everyday comfort and adjustability, supplied as a complete kit of four shock absorbers and four springs.

Key Features
- Full-length ride height adjustment: ride height is adjusted by changing the case length, so damper stroke length and spring preload are effectively unchanged and ride quality stays stable when the height is adjusted.
- Twin-tube construction for street comfort: the twin-tube structure keeps the oil and gas chambers from being arranged serially, helping secure sufficient stroke, while low gas pressure keeps friction low for smooth movement over rough roads.
- 16-level damping force adjustment: compression and rebound are adjusted together in 16 linear steps using the needle-valve adjustment knob, to suit the driver's ride and handling preference.
- Vehicle-specific upper mount configuration: kits include upper mounts exclusively designed for the application — reinforced rubber mounts or pillow-ball mounts; some vehicle models use OE mounts. Pillow-ball front upper mounts for strut suspensions include a camber adjustment feature.
- Durable, corrosion-resistant construction: upper mounts and lower brackets carry TEIN green powder paint applied with a 2-layer/1-bake anti-rust treatment, and the shell case uses TEIN's ZTP coating for protection against chipping and rust.
- No-sag high-tensile springs: included springs are cold-formed from SAE9254 high-tensile steel (tensile strength 200 kgf/mm2 or over) and powder coated, for resistance to sagging and protection against chipping and peeling.

FAQ
Is TEIN FLEX Z ride height adjustable?
Yes. FLEX Z uses a full-length ride height adjustment system: ride height is changed by adjusting the case length, so the damper stroke length and spring preload are effectively unchanged. This keeps the change in ride quality minimal when the height is adjusted, allowing a lowered stance without sacrificing ride comfort.

Can the damping force be adjusted?
Yes. Damping force is adjustable over 16 levels using the adjustment knob; compression and rebound are adjusted together. The needle-valve system changes damping force linearly step by step, letting you tune ride and handling to suit your preference.

Does FLEX Z include upper mounts?
Application-dependent. TEIN states that FLEX Z kits include upper mounts exclusively designed for each vehicle model — either reinforced rubber mounts or pillow-ball mounts — while some vehicle models use OE mounts. Refer to this product's Specifications for its actual upper mount configuration.

Is FLEX Z suitable for street driving?
Yes. FLEX Z uses a twin-tube structure, which helps secure sufficient stroke, and low gas pressure keeps friction low so the damper moves smoothly. TEIN describes the result as a supple ride at low speed and a stable ride at high speed on rough and bumpy roads.

Is FLEX Z compatible with TEIN EDFC?
Some applications are compatible. With the EDFC series (EDFC / EDFC II / EDFC ACTIVE / EDFC ACTIVE PRO) installed, damping force can be controlled from inside the car, but TEIN states that some models are NOT compatible with the EDFC series. Compatibility is application-specific, so confirm support for the vehicle before relying on EDFC.
